History

George Nakashima was an architect and furniture designer-craftsman, and a significant force within the American Craft movement of the mid-twentieth century. His workshop, studio, home, and other contributing buildings on the site were built throughout the mid-twentieth century. The Nakashima Foundation is now working to develop a long range plan for the care and conservation of the property in collaboration with the Nakashima family.
