History
The Museum of Early Trades and Crafts, formerly known as the Madison Public Library, is a Richardsonian Romanesque Style structure. The building is distinguished by its massive polychromatic heavy rock-faced block form, round arched entranceway, red slate and terracotta roof and stained glass windows, with an octagonal Seth Thomas clock tower. The interior has extensive decorative stenciling on glazed brickwork and ornate carved wood and stone detailing.
